the gallery.

y'all.

the Spirit does. not. stop. moving. He just doesn't stop. and it's been downright overwhelming to see some of that evidence right now.

compelled by a post i had read, i wrote a post about sexual purity. and then amy read that post and decided she had something to say about it.

and y'all? she has said it. or rather, the first part of it. because i know more is percolating in amy's brain as these thoughts solidify themselves, neuron firing to neuron in systematic function, majesty laying itself over myelin sheath.

i got a sneak peek of amy's post last night and i just want to stand on the top of a mountain and clap with clarity in appreciation of her bravery. amy is coming at you from a standpoint i can't yet claim as my own. and she is speaking a word. so head you over there and check it out!

after i wrote that post on sexual purity i wrote a post on how we even determine what sin is and what speaks life or death into our lives. and meg read that, and compelled by that and a reminder she had put up on her computer, wrote a post completely different than the one she had planned.

i'll confess something: i looked for those tweets meg mentioned, the ones filled with hate and fury. and i found them. and i burn with fury as a feminist because no woman should ever have to hear or read those words in her direction, and i burn with fury as a person because no human should ever have their dignity so violated, and i weep as a christian because is this really what we've chosen to make of our lives?

it just isn't worth being a smartass. ever. it's so hard to take those thoughts captive. so hard. but it as equally critical to our purity to keep our thoughts & words captive to Christ as it is our actions and gestures.

amy and meg are both talking about purity. different kinds, but equally critical.

i just finished reading reached by ally condie last night and one of the things the society says is that everything that's been done, everything that's created in the present, has been done before. and better.

and that's probably true here. nothing here is original, strictly speaking. i was compelled by a post, which compelled amy's and another post of mine, which compelled megan's. it's a chain, a trade of intellectual information.

but even though it's been done before, it's never been done before. we haven't heard meg's story before; we haven't heard amy's voice. these are their stories, unique to their situations, beautifully written, carefully guided by the Spirit's hand. it's Jesus here and Jesus is making all things new, all the time.

let Him move in you through these beautiful women He's marked as His own? through amy's heart and megan's cry?

if my name is cassia, this is the gallery. this is your place to create and to see; to hear and be heard. we're just the forum for the Holy Spirit to move mightily. be brave, small soul. let Him turn you over and make you brand-new.

  3. Sorry-1st comment messed up! I just wanted to say that I'm new to your blog, but love the part about how important it is to hold our thoughts and words captive. So many times people forget about how dangerous those can be. Thanks for touching on that!
